Created Top Menu, and on that I have created a menu named Home, and an Article which Contains the contents for actual Home page and copied the URL of the article.ģ. The default home, I published at a position which dose not exist. I used the methord of betweenbrain along with Chacapamac's tutorial.ġ. Let me conclude this thred with a final reply that all the confusions were solved, and I have created flash Intro in my site. Need to restart your whole server to kill processes that might run with an old configuration. You need really a apache2 and not a apache1 is listening on port 81. Have a look at the order of the directory index directive in your nf file too.Įtc/apache2/nf file default is:ĭirectoryIndex index.html index.htm index.shtml index.cgi index.php index.php3 index.xhtml
htaccess file it should read: DirectoryIndex index.html not DirectoryIndex index.php Just place index.html before index.php there (but that should be the default setting) There you have a textarea with index files. Go to the Options tab of that web site in ISPConfig.
INTRO FLASH JOOMLA HOW TO
Just an addition on How to tell Apache to load index.html: One thing that bother me with this is the spidering by search engines? I guess we can even generate a cookie to bypass directly the splash screen for people that revisit the site? Kannansreenivas seems to me the best method. Personally having the home page being the splash screen is a big problem because the real first page will be somewhere in the menu. I can see the difference between integration of the splash screen in joomla and using kannansreenivas method. I was wondering if an intro flash have any impact on the referencement of search engines or any other impact in the overall performance of the site? I will come back to that discussion later. The solution given by betweenbrain seem even simpler?
INTRO FLASH JOOMLA CODE
Make the intro-menu item “default”Ģ) Next we need a null basic template for joomla, go get yours at (note you have to register, so proceed and search for Blank site template).ģ) When you have it, open it up with your fav text editor and customize it with your code (find the body and insert your splash intro code there).Ĥ) Now upload your hand-modified template as usual from the Joomla backend (”Install” -> “Templates”)ĥ) Then go to “Template Manager” and open your new listed template from there “associate” the template to your “Menu” (via the “Menu Assignement”, bottom left.
INTRO FLASH JOOMLA MOVIE
Now, does the Flash movie contain links in it or automatically redirect the visitor somewhere? I ask, since you do need to provide some why for your visitor to get past the blank template to your site.ġ) Create a Section/Category/Content of your choice (say “intro”) then create a new menu entry called “intro” wich connects to this section. All we did was create a custom html module with the Flash in it, created an article that was only displayed on the homepage, used to display the module in the article, and assign the "blank" template to only the homepage. I'll give you some pointers below, with keywords that you can use to search for more in-depth info in bold.įor my client, it was easier for them to use the "blank" template since we could manage everything through Joomla. Not to worry, we all need to start somewhere. I feel really stupid not knowing what you are talking about when you speak of "index.html have more priority than index.php" and "create a flash intro in index.html page and the link to index.php" I really don't know a whole lot about joomla.
